Workshop
The Cyprus Institute in late 2008 undertook a techno-economic feasibility study for the development of a demonstration co-generation of electricity and desalinated water using concentrated solar power (CSP). The project was funded by the Cypriot Government through the Ministry of Communications and Works using the EU Cohesion fund. The President of the Republic has personally endorsed the project and advocated for the desirability of developing such facilities throughout the Mediterranean.
The Cyprus Institute presented the findings of its study in an international workshop, organised on the 23rd of June, 2010, in Nicosia Cyprus. Prominent scientists, stakeholders and policy makers participated from Cyprus and the region.
The aim of the workshop was to engage local and regional participants to a critical discussion on the suggested technological solution, and to establish a discussion platform on technological, economic and policy issues for renewables.
Below you will find the programme (PDF) and the main presentations of the workshop (PowerPoint). At the request of certain speakers, some presentations are not made public.
