Agios Antonios high school of Limassol visits CyI
Besides scientific advancement, EEWRC’s broader objectives include the proper environmental education of the local community of Cyprus and the broader region.
Such an activity occurred in the Institute’s premises last week. It was our pleasure to have with us students from Agios Antonios high school of Limassol accompanied by their teachers. The students’ team is particularly interested in environmental issues such as climate change and in the upcoming August they are organizing an international youth exchange program on the topic (http://ccafaf.webnode.com/).
During their visit, the students had the chance to get information about the latest findings on global aspects of climate change but also on regional results based on projections and impact studies carried out by CyI’s research groups.
A presentation on the topic by the Atmospheric and Climate Modeling research group’s researcher George Zittis was followed by an extensive discussion with the students.
We are looking forward in having more suchlike events that enhance the environmental consciousness of the young generation of Cyprus and promote CyI’s research activities to the wider public.
