The Cyprus Institute

Dr. Kypros Milidonis is an Asst. Professor in the Energy Department of the Energy, Environment, and Water Research Center (EEWRC) of the Cyprus Institute (CYI). He received his integrated Master’s Degree (2008) and his doctorate (2014) in Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics from University of Patras. Following a short postdoctoral research at the same Institute, he joined the Engineering Department of University of Cambridge (2015-2018) as a Research Associate focusing on advanced energy conversion systems. Since 2018, he has been a key contributor to the Advanced Renewable Energy Systems (ARES) group at CYI, focusing on enhancing its research capabilities and multidisciplinary approach by leveraging his expertise and fostering innovation.

 

His work focuses on the design and development of novel components and systems to enhance the efficiency and operational performance of renewable energy technologies, with a strong emphasis on solar energy. He leads projects from fundamental theoretical research (Technology Readiness Level, TRL 1–4) to pre-industrial applications (TRL 5–7). With extensive experience in both academia and close collaboration with industry, Dr. Milidonis has actively participated in and managed cutting-edge research projects as a Principal Investigator and/or Coordinator.
