Savvia is a Research Management and Administration Officer at the RIMS Office of the Cyprus Institute. Her main activities include the compliant and efficient management of grants, coordination of projects and financial reporting, as well as communication with funding bodies. She is also responsible for supporting proposal development, identifying funding opportunities, advising researchers, and liaising with funding authorities. She worked as a Scientific Officer at the Research and Innovation Foundation, where she contributed to the monitoring of funding programmes, promoted Cypriot participation in international initiatives and organized events. Her role also included providing guidance on programme calls, supporting networking between local and international stakeholders, and participating in the implementation of European and other projects.
 
Savvia’s academic background focused on the field of Chemistry, with a specialization in the study of the surface-active properties of complex physicochemical systems, with a BSc in Chemistry, an MSc in Physical Chemistry and a PhD in Physical Chemistry of Colloids and Interfaces. A central focus of her research was in the field of Food Physicochemistry and is about the long-term antioxidant stabilization and storage of oils, which are rich in omega-3 fatty acids. Throughout her research career, she has gained extensive experience in collaborative projects, coordinating and managing research initiatives, mentoring MSc students, teaching, as well as communication and dissemination activities.
