Abstract
Concentrating Solar Thermal (CST) technologies hold the promise to highly contribute to the decarbonisation of the world energy system, from the electricity, to the transportation, and the building environment. Just in the electricity sector, the IEA predicts that by 2050, with sufficient support, over ten percent of global electricity could be produced by concentrating solar thermal power plants.
The colloquium provides detailed information on the latest advances in linear concentration systems research and technology anticipated to increase the cost-competiveness CSP solutions with storage for dispatchable electricity.
