Solon Pissis
Solon Pissis read Computer Science at the University of Athens (2007) and obtained his M.Sc. in High-Performance Computing from the University of Edinburgh (2008). He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from King's College London in 2012. He was a faculty member at King's College London from 2013 to 2018 and a Senior Researcher at CWI from 2019 to 2026. He joined The Cyprus Institute in 2026.
His research focuses on algorithms and data structures, with an emphasis on processing large-scale data. He is also interested in applications in data mining and databases, bioinformatics, and information retrieval. His work has appeared in leading journals, including Science, SIAM Journal on Computing, ACM Transactions on Algorithms, The VLDB Journal, and IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering, as well as in leading conferences, including KDD, PVLDB, ICDE, ICDM, ICALP, and ESA.
