Dr. Bourtsoukidis is an Assistant Professor in Atmospheric Sciences, leading the Reactive Trace Gases research group within its Center of Excellence for Climate and Atmosphere Research (CARE-C). He completed his PhD in Geosciences at Goethe University in Frankfurt, and holds a MSc in Environmental Physics along with a BSc in Physics, both from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Before his current appointment, he worked as Research Associate at the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry in Mainz, Germany, where he participated in numerous ground-based, ship, and aircraft field campaigns. His research explores how emitted reactive trace gases affect the Earth's atmosphere, focusing on the atmospheric chemistry that governs the land-atmosphere interactions.He has participated in numerous international projects and has authored/co-authored more than 35 publications, several of which in high-impact journals such as Science, Nature Communications and Global Change Biology.
