Dr. Evgenios Agathokleous is a Professor at the School of Ecology and Applied Meteorology at Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology (NUIST), China, and Adjunct Professor at the Climate and Atmosphere Research Center (CARE-C), Cyprus Institute. Previously, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), conducting research at the Forestry and Forest Products Research Institute (FFPRI). He received a Ph.D. in Environmental Resources by Hokkaido University, Japan, and a Diploma in Agricultural Sciences (Crop Production program) by the Agricultural University of Athens, Greece.

 

His research focuses on the dose response and its mechanisms, while he spent about 15 years conducting multi-year research targeting to understand the impacts of air pollution and climate change on vegetation as well  as enhance the performance of plants and ecosystem health under these stresses. He has a strong interest in the translation of scientific knowledge into policy. He has (co)authored over 350 publications in international scientific journals, is a Highly Cited Researcher (Clarivate), acts as editor of several scientific journals, and has hosted or participated in numerous domestic and international projects.
